Faced with the pressures of increasing productivity, three large and one SME industrial end-users, enhanced by three academic research groups skilled in Constraint Programming and Integer Programming (CP and IP) as well as in cutting planes (BC), and two developers of commercial IP and CP software, proposed and had accepted the LISCOS project. LISCOS is targeted at the development of large scale integrated Supply Chain optimisation software supporting intelligent production, based on a deep integration of IP/BC and CP.
The project builds on two successful ESPRIT projects, PAMIPS and MEMIPS, and aims to extend existing BC and CP software to effectively solve problems in Supply Chain Management. The consortium will, using an extensive set of end-users' problems,
- derive a generic structure suitable for BC&CP,
- establish links between the CP, IP and BC codes,
- implement appropriate solution methods and
- produce industrial strength software to be applied by the end-users.
